HBMS, in cooperation with the Manitoba and Saskatchewan governments, invited interested members of the public, including representatives of local organizations, to participate in a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for the Flin Flon Soils Study.
The CAC has been formed to provide public input to the process of conducting a Human Health Risk Assessment (HHRA) in the Flin Flon / Creighton area. The committee is a key element in HBMS’s commitment to making the HHRA an open, transparent process from start to finish.
Through regular meetings, the CAC provides opportunities for members of the public to express their concerns or to ask questions about any aspect of the HHRA, such as questions related to scientific or technical matters or to process or procedural issues.
The CAC will enable HBMS, its consultants and collaborating agencies to obtain input and comment from members of the public, and to demonstrate and document how HBMS uses that input in its decision-making process for the HHRA. Throughout the HHRA process, the CAC will also provide liaison between the company, the technical and regulatory authorities and the local public.
